How to send email from within a program

Post by narkosis » 22 Nov 2017, 06:39

Hi all,

How is it best to send an email with an attached text file from within a program. The requirement is that the end-user requires all transactions (limit to 5 per day only) be sent to the owner as each one is committed. Each row is basically just 8-10 fields of alphanumeric data.

The only lib I found that remotely looked like email-related was "qckmail.apl" but couldn't figure out the single dialog box dlgMailAttachments that came with it.

Any ideas please?

- which version of TD do you use?
- why do you need the dlgMailAttachments-Dialog? I don't understand your problem.

We use SalMail for sending update information or occured error descriptions to our support team. For offers, orders, invoices, etc we use Outlook via ActiveX. In an older version program version we had implemented a 3rd party tool for SMTP and POP3 mailing.

As you posted here I asume you have and older TD version (<=4.2).
You can use the mailixx.dll and functions inside it, but be aware that in order to send mail with it you have to have MSOffice Outlook installed, as it is using MAPI (Microsoft mail) to send and/or receive mails.
The cgmail.apl has a class cQOEmail which you can use.
The SMTP/POP mail ability was added in later TD versions...
