TD 5.1 - Issues - Dockable Windows

I quite like the new look and feel of the dockable windows (modeless
dialogs), especially the ability to dock onto a single tabbed tool window,
and the docking artifects displayed under the Office 2007 themes.

However, the first time I try to dock a window with a dockable MDI at
runtime, the new docking artifects don't appear. I can still dock with the
MDI and into other already docked windows, but the docking artifects only
appear after I un-dock and then re-dock the window. (On other themes,
without the docking artifects, it's sometimes hard to find the right place
to drop the window to dock in the desired position.)

When trying to dock one window into the same space (to share or as tabs)
with another docked window, both windows have to have been docked, un-docked
and re-docked before the docking artifects appear correctly.

It doesn't seem to matter when I create the modeless dialogs (Create,
CreateComplete or via menu item calls on the MDI), the behaviour is same.
Perhaps I'm missing something when defining/creating the dialogs, but it
works as expected (but not as pretty) in 4.2.

I've tested under both development and executable run-times, and the
behaviour is the same for each.

Also, when compared to the docking in 4.2, we seem to have lost the ability
to expand/collapse multiple tools docked in the same space with up/down or
left/right buttons (depending on the orientation). We have the new tab
metaphor under some themes, but it should really support both.

There appear to be some other minor issues with docking, e.g. sometimes
wanting to dock into the entire MDI client area, rather than on just one
edge, but generally it seems to work okay. (If I can isolate the
circumstances for this, I'll post them here too.)

Hi Mike,

Thanks for responding to this issue, and all the others (especially mine)
tonight.

You may have noticed that I also raised them on the Unify Tech Support TD
5.1 forum.
Let me know if you want me to update them there with the TD bug numbers
you've assigned here.

(I'll only be raising any further issues I find in the Unify forum. That
seems to be the right place, but I'll still check what's going on here, as
well.)

BTW, there's still a couple I raised (in both forums) that I haven't had
feedback on yet:

Can you let me know if these have been reviewed and had bug numbers
assigned, or if you need further information from me? A private message will
be fine.

It's good to see the vast majority of contributors and respondents have been
so constructive in working through this process. I'm sure the eventual
outcome will have been worth the effort!

Cheers,
Terry P.

Hi Terry,

We've been madly going through all these issues and I've finally gotten to
the point that I can reply with defect numbers. I've tried to match defects
with the forum message as best I can, but I'm sure that I've missed a few.
I will check on these two and get back to you privately.

Best regards,

Mike

Don't bother with updating the Unify Forum with the defect numbers. It's
mostly to let YOU know that the issues are being addressed.
