Happened to be browsing through some older messages and saw your
wishes. Attached are two methods through which you can accomplish the first
wish with the existing SQLBase engines. My preference is the second method
as it avoids the need to create new views for each user and puts the access
control into a table. You can then give edit capabilities to the control
table to supervisors or other non-DBA type people.

That's (the 2nd method) quite smart Cliff !!!

I'll probably adopt it for future purposes !!!

I only fear that complex (union, subquerys) querys on views built on
subselect might slow down the whole stuff !!!

Hi Mirko,

You are welcome! We have a rather complex subsystem built on the idea.
Some of the queries are real monsters. A lot of the tables involved from
six to nine columns per primary index. But so far it seems to be working.
