Hi.

I downloaded a test package SQLBase 11.5., trying to migrate from 8.5. Does
anyone has any hints for doing that. A normal restore snapshot doesn't work.

Thank you.

Hi,

a restore is (and has ever been) only possible with the version the backup
was made with. We had problems with this issue in some cases (not only while
migrating to a newer version, but also after such a migration in restoring
an older backup).

There are 2 ways of migrating to SB 11.5:
1) The slow but always working one: Do an unload with SB 8.5 and load it
into SB 11.5.
2) The fast and good one: Ensure that there are not logfiles (e.g. by
deinstalling the database - you need to set logbackup off if it is on
before). Copy the database file do SB 11.5 and simply install it.

Notes:
a) Be sure to use the latest SP for SB 11.5.
b) I would not recommend to upgrade to SB 11.5. The latest version which is
working for us is SB 9.x. I already spent more than 10 mandays trying to
upgrade to SB 11.0 respectively SB 11.5 but did not get it working.

Regards,
RAiner
