Snapshot in Version 11.5

If I make a backup of a large database (15 GByte) I get a error if I use a
"*.bcf". If I dont use a bcf-file the snapsot is ok.
(1) In the doc-files of the 11.5 is written: "You must use a bcf-File!". Is
it necessary?
(2) If I use the bcf-file, I get the error: 2104. It was only some kbytes
written.

Is this a known issue?

Starting with 11.0.2, you definitely DON'T need a bcf file. You can back up
your whole database into one .bkp file.

Hope this helps.

Restore Snapshot in Version 11.5

Now I will test the restore of a snapshot. Backupfile about 15 GByte. The
Backupfile is from a other server but the same DB version!

It's failt:
- I get no error message. I get no status message on the server console.
- I have set the Level = 4. Serverstatus of client node is "active". lpa
and lpw is not growing (system activity). After any lines in the process
activity the text stoped (cur=4 snm=1 fcd=41 [write database chink for
restore])
- I wait any hours. After about 3-4 hours then I kill all tasks.
- the database file will not be chanched, after the server starts to restore
(Size and DateTime).
- the tasks dbntsrv and cmdmn runs both with ... 25%

I have tested the restore statement with "on server" and "on client".
Now I will start the last test with "usecmcache=0".

Is there a known issue?

Yes this is the problem.
After this, the restore is OK.

Information: OS Windows Vista, the database server runs as application (not
as a service).

I thought that the simplest way was to rename the file to .DBS.

I think also, that I have do this. But this must bee many years before
(about version 7.6 under Novell).
This suggestion would be my latest latest test.

But if the dba statement "backup shnapshot..." and "restore snapshot ..." of
a database do not work, then the admin of a production factory change his
hair color to grey every day. (Without influence of other factors (weather,
wife, and so on).)

My dedections on Version 11.5:
(1) The backup snapshot dont work, if I use a backup control file.
(2) The restore snapshot dont work, if I use the external cache manager.
