SQLBase upgrade from 11 to 11.5 problem

Hi everyone

I have problem upgrading SQLBase 11.02 to 11.5.
I've started setup for SQLBase 11.5 and it detected that previous
installation is present and it offered an upgrading it. I've selected
upgrade. But after installation I noticed that server has instaled only
1 new service so i disabled previous services. I edited 11.5's SQL.INI
according to PDF manual and setup country files and successfully
installed databases. When I run service it looked OK but the same
moment after first connect server become slow and stopped responding.
I've restarted the server and looked SQL.INI but didn't find anything to
my understanding what it should be making problem (see sql.ini v 11.5
below).
I had no choice but to uninstall version 11.5, but there occurred
problem uninstalling it from server, because of registry key being used
problem. I was not able to uninstalling it automatically via uninstaller
. I had to remove some registry keys manualy but some i couldn't.
Now server is still running old SQLBase version 11.02.

Server is Windows 2003 SP2
4 GB RAM and Xeon CPU and RAID 10.
The performance of server it's self is not questionable.
Previous low performance was solved with creating separate service for
some frequent database (IT5200 - 7GB of size).

Any advice or ideas for solution?

Best regards,

Jurij

P.S.:
Why installer is not capable to upgrade installations with more than one
instances of service?

SQLBase upgrade from 11 to 11.5 problem

Hi Jurij,

Sorry for the late reply. I don't visit this newsgroup much anymore.

I am *VERY* concerned with the report of SQLBase 11.5 running at 100% at the first connect. I've had one other report of this.

Is this something that you can reproduce at will? I would love to have a look at your system (via a webex) when this is occurring. If you want to do this, make sure that SQLConsole is already running before the lockup happens. Let me know in advance via email.

Regarding the SB11.5 sql.ini file (and 11.0.2 as well) in the server section:

Make a new line: readonly=0
remove sortcache=64000 - This will allocate 64MB of RAM for each sort process, i.e. every statement that uses a 'order by' or 'distinct' clause.

Best regards,

Mike Vandine
