In reverse order:
"how many BreakGroups can add to a report" - 8. Look at help for
SAM_ReportNotify and its lParam for details. The Before/After for break
groups go to 8.

"no records i am getting a blank " - so 'display' (a message box?) "No
records found" ? Two ways come to mind:
-- if using SQLBase and result sets is on, call SqlGetResultSetCount() first
on your query before starting the report

-- have a bool. var. that you set FALSE in SAM_ReportFetchInit and TRUE in
SAM_ReportFetchNext.
If the bool = FALSE in SAM_ReportFinish there were no rows.

-- prep/exe the query and as a test before you start the report, call
SqlFetchNext() for a 1st row. If that function returns FALSE, there aren't
any rows. If you use this method, BE SURE TO call SqlExecute() again.
Otherwise, you will be missing your 1st row in the report!
