Not a valid win32 application

Post by gigit » 10 Aug 2017, 16:10

Hi to all.
I compiled a little EXE from a Win 10 32 bit machine, where TD 7.0 is installed. Launching it from this PC always runs well.
If I try to launch it from a XP machine, I got the error in subject. XP is 32 bit, too (of course). I don't have deploy installed in that PC and, as usual with older versions (6.0 included), I expected to receive a different error lik 'cdlli70 not found' . To solve this I launch the program from the folder in which TD resides.
Have I to install deploy on the XP machine?
Tried but .NET framework 4.5 are required.
I will try exploding DEPLOY in another folder and then copy it to the XP machine. Do you think this will run?
Thank you.

Tried. Doesn't run. The error is always the same. Until 6.0 there was no problem to execute a program on a XP computer, from 7.0 yes.
Does anyboby faced this problem? Is it unsolvable?
Thanks.

I can not check this, XP is long gone here.

But according to the compatibility matrix, XP is unsupported starting from TD 6.2 SP4.

Yes, I think there is no chance with XP.
Though it is not listed in the matrix, our application (Win32, TD 7, SQLBase) runs without any problems with Windows Server 2016.

Ok, thank you.
I should abandon 7.0 and go back to 6, ;)
Bye.

I think you should rather abandon XP as it is not supported by Microsoft for years now.

I agree with Dave.
My customers are always struggling with buying new equipment, but have left XP's behind a long time ago.

4,94 % of all desktop Win-users world wide are still using XP according to StatCounter. For business customers it should be less of course.

Straining the memory here, but I seem to remember that the .Net component was required for the deploy installation, but not for the actual running of the program. If you search some of the archives, you may find a workaround.

Thank you for you answers. I'm trying on XP because many of my customers are still using it. It runs and until it doesn't crash....
