INSERT returns with 0 Rows inserted instead of Error

hi,

when I try to insert into a database (Oracle Database 10g Release
10.2.0.1.0) with a string that has more chars than defined in column
definition I receive the result "0 ROWS INSERTED" in SqlTalk instead of any
violation message - e.g.ORA-12899 or similar.

any idea?

Thanks for suggestions
Stefan
