Not enough System Resources ??

Hello,

Since a few weeks, we have regular problems with our application, which
stops here and there for no apparent reason.

When looking at the weblog events, we have this message :

"Application Error -- Not enough System Resources to create window.. "

I don't want to jump at conclusions, but it may be related to an upgrade in
the 42 version, because these problems seemed to appear more or less at the
same time of the upgrade. In any case it is very hard to understand how to
fix the problem, since there is no clear way to see when and how this
problem happens...

Did anyone experienced that ?

Thanks for any help...

YF.

Hi
If you suspect migration problem just make sure all references are updated
to *42.dll libs
All means not only those in library section which are simple to figure
(compiler error) but also those from Attribute inspector
You can search for 41.dll or similar

Not enough System Resources ??

Well, let guess this time: Did you save out all your TD apps/apls in text
mode before converting/reading in to TD v4.2? Sometimes an older binary can
cause problems such as this. Text mode forces TD to 'flush' out its memory
images of the app. and forces a complete rebuild.

"stops here and there for no apparent reason" - that's the "stop"? A crash,
just shuts down the app?

It looks like it is a crash.

IE gives this message: Application Error

WebLog Event : "Service, MyProg: Application Error -- Not enough System
Resources to create window.. "

I think I already did save in text mode before converting to TD4.2... I'll
try again...

You could also have a miss-matched .dll version in your deployment
directory. Try uninstalling that - then cleaning out the deploy directory
and registry & do a clean install.

I did it for my APL...

Did you convert the Gupta APL too ? (qckweb.apl, vt.apl, ...)

Problem, the server is in production so we don't really like to do that kind
of things...

But it is a good idea... it is very possible our problem comes from our
installation... maybe we'll try a clean install one of these days...

"Did you convert the Gupta APL[s] too ?" - you should not need
to, since those are already converted to your new/current v4.2
of TD. (Be sure in Tools/Preferences... Directory tab that you
have the listed the correct TD dirs. for 4.2)

Hi,
we had the same probleem in older versins. Open Your soure with
ultraedit or so on. look for 41.dll an replace it! Gupta has some places
that will not be converted!

3 days of work?? There is a source code of a converter somewhere in the newsgroups. I added the ones you need as an attachment.
Grab those, compile in your old centura version and compile a set ni your new one (if you so wish).
Make a backup of your 4000 files and then simply run the test save app. Once done run the new version normal save app and you are done. It handles wildcards.

That should save you some 2 days of work....
