When you need ReportBuilder ActiveX/COM features, it must be registered.
Here we use a pure xcopy deployment without registration or TD setup.
As for running from network, it can create performance issues when starting. It needs to load the runtime and exe/apd's over the network.
Another idea is to create a batch file which:
Synchronizes the files from the server to the local machine. Using RoboCopy (part of Windows):
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/lib ... s.11).aspx
It detects changed files and will only copy the changed/new files to the local machine.
So starting a second time will be quick.
Another advantage of a batch file is that you can set the PATHs before starting the application.
The batch file can be placed on the network and offer a shortcut to it or you only deploy the batch file locally which is then started.
my experience is
- SalMail needs install of deploy (there are some files in the GAC)
- some SalGrid* API-calls need the install of the deploy
- the new Charttool needs the install of the deploy
For 6.1 I built my own clientinstaller (with the registrations in the GAC), for 6.3 it was to much effort, I integrated the deploy with a silent install in my own client installer (we have to install some ocx and fonts additionally)
