Application Statistics tab

Post by lfonda » 08 Jan 2018, 12:10

We are using TD 6.1SP3r.
We have noticed that properties tab containing information about resource use and application ( .app ) components always displays: Outline Space: 100% Free and Symbol Table Space: 0% KBytes. Tested on a sample application, other items seem to be correct. Now everithing is working, but we are afraid to reach the upper limit of our application without any warning.
Attached print screen of the tab.

Thank you

I just ran an old TD v4.2 appl. and checked statistics, and another appl. that I'd written in v6.3 and I see the following:

DESIGN-TIME
TD v4.2: Outline Space: 98% Free. Symbol Table Size: 0 KBytes (0 - zero - makes sense, since TD hasn't allocated memory/'built' the symbol table yet during design mode)

TD v6.3: As you report, Outline: 100% Free and Symbol Table: 0 KBytes

RUN-TIME
TD v4.2: Outline Space: 96% Free . Symbol Table Size: 234 KBytes

TD v6.3: Outline Space: 100% Free and Symbol Table 391 KBytes

Again, this makes sense since during run-time as TD has allocated memory for the symbol table (vars, consts. etc).

A BUG? Either there is perhaps a bug in misreporting the Outline Space free in TD v6.3 (and your 6.1), or later TDs are much more efficient about building the runtime of the outline (?) I don't have a huge appl. to test with.

QUESTION: Are you reporting your v6.1 statistics while in design mode, or while the appl. is running from the TD outliner?

I'm reporting the statistics while in desingn mode.
How can I produce the statistics while the appl is running from the TD outliner ?

Thank you very much

Considering the size of your application as you show in the runtime Statistics window, it's hard to believe the Outline hasn't taken up any memory space. It would seem that the Outline Space statistic in v6 is broken.

Perhaps someone with a Support contract might consider reporting this as a TD bug.

Thank you very much.
We will address a Support Center.
We are also considering to migrate to version 7.

I would suggest that you look at the msgs. in the TD v7.x section on this forum, just to see if there have been any issues reported about it that might affect yo, especially over TD v6.x. And if you don't find anything there then add a msg. in the General Discussions area asking about others' recommendations.
