Using ROWID in views

Post by Gerrymueller63 » 05 Feb 2017, 05:55

I am supporting an application that is using SQLBase 8.1.0 that another developer wrote. It has some views that are joins between 2 tables and it includes the ROWID. The view was created in an earlier version and then they upgraded to 8.1.0. It appears that in 8.1.0, you are not allowed to use ROWID in views. There is a defect in 8.5.0 PTF 4, 65491 - Using ROWID is not allowed with views. Does anyone know if this fix let you use ROWID or vice versa. The client wants to increase the license count with the current version soon, and I don't think I will be able to easily port this since the versions are so far apart.

With 12.0, can you use ROWID in a view?

Just tried it and it gives me (SQLBase 11.7.3 and 12.0.1):
Error: 00303 EXE CRI Cannot create a VIEW using ROWID column
So, the answer is no.
