Clarification on DBP PRESERVE Vs SqlResultSet

Post by a_sivababu » 26 May 2014, 07:47

Hi All,
I am bit confused with DBP PRESERVE and SqlResultSet. Could some please confirm whether my below understanding is right?

1. SqlResultSet/SqlSetResultSet() can be used if the Database supports Back end resultset / Scrollable result Set
2. DBP PRESERVE can be used if the database does not support Scrollbable result set/Back end Result Set. It creates FRS files in the folder to support.

I am currently using both and enabled to TRUE for SQL Server 2008 and it works fine in win32. However, I am facing hstmt cursor busy error in .NET. If I remove only DBP_PRESERVE then it works very fast without any issues.

Please suggest.

Thanks!

Hi All,
Could you please provide some thoughts on the difference between SqlResultSet Vs DBP_PRESERVE as Scrollable result not working with global system variable SqlReseultSet and I need to define DBP_PRESERVE explicitly for scrollable or nested cursor.

I am struggling to get the input on this.

Just FYI - I am using SQL Server ODBC driver and not the Native Client ODBC driver.

Thank you.

Regards,
Siva A
