Hi All Members,
My name is Varun Rajasekaran. I am a resident of Pune,India. I currently work in a Tata Group company, where I am supporting 3 applications built using Centura 2.1 .The 3 applications which I currently support in Centura 2.1 connect to Oracle 9i.
There is a plan to upgrade the database to Oracle 11.2 version.
In the Gupta TD official site, it is mentioned that Centura 2.1 is not compatible with Oracle 11.2 version. The link is given below:
http://www.guptatechnologies.com/Produc ... atrix.aspx
So I have some questions regarding the same. They are given below:
1) What changes need to be done in components (e.g. Oracle router, sql.ini, etc.) so that these 3 applications built using Centura 2.1 support Oracle 11.2 without any code changes in the application?
I have attached the configuration file (sql.ini) for reference. Please go through the config file and please guide me as to what parameters need to be added/changed in this so that applications built using Centura 2.1 support Oracle 11.2.
Is Centura 2.1 compatible with Oracle 11.2?
Re: Is Centura 2.1 compatible with Oracle 11.2?
Hello,
Up until a little over a year ago, all our applications were built with TD 2.1, accessing an Oracle 11 database.
We were using an Oracle 7 client.
You will need an entry in TNSNAMES.ORA that corresponds to your Oracle 11 database instance, and a corresponding entry in your SQL.INI for the entry in TNSNAMES.ORA
Hopefully, you shouldn't need to make any other changes, either to developers' computers or application users' computers.
Cheers!

hi,
That seems to be a good news.
I am trying to attach my sql.ini file and tnsnames.ora file in this post, but I am unable to see the attachment.
I am attaching the same here, please see it and guide me as to what parameters need to be added in TNSNAMES.ORA and SQL.INI for that entry in TNSNAMES.ORA?

Copy an existing entry in TNSNAMES.ORA to create a new entry (modified with parameters for your new database). Copy an existing remotedbname entry in SQL.INI to add a new entry (modified with parametes for your new database.)
If you want, post one entry from your TNSNAMES.ORA file, and the matching "remotedbname" entry from your SQL.INI file. Edit your TNSNAMES entry to not identify your databases! I don't think you want the whole world to be able to find your database instances!
