TD-18600: Duplicate formats issue

This is a really annoying bug in TD5.2 . I don't know if this has been resolved in subsequent releases; regardless, it doesn't matter much as we simply do not have the resources to handle an upgrade.

Does anybody know an easy workaround to avoid this pain in the rear? The only thing I can think of is regularly checking the Formats section of the outline for each of our 136 app files.

It would sure be nice if Gupta gave out a little app that could scan every file and eliminate duplicate entries in Formats. Maybe a little CDK application that could be compiled in any version of TD, and that could tackle fixing source files in any version of TD ???

I have quickly hacked something using CDK. NO WARRANTY !!!

It will load a source, check for duplicate formats and removes them. The result will be saved as a new source file.

It can give you a start in creating a complete tool (eg scanning all files in a folder etc). This CDK application just uses the minimal and I did not thoroughly check it.
(never use this on original sources, use backups !!!!!!!)

The source is in TD15 format but can be used in other TD versions.
Beware to rename the cbcdk.apl which has another name in newer TD versions (cdk.apl).

The ZIP file contains a test source (TestFormats.apt) which contains duplicate formats which can be used to test the CDK tool.

Dave, I'd give you a big bear hug, but then I'd be afraid you might not be so willing, next time, to offer up this sort of goodie again !!!
