SQLBase ODBC 11.7.3 Connect Dialog Database Name Length
SQLBase ODBC 11.7.3 Connect Dialog Database Name Length
Hi,
When connecting through ODBC to a database, if I don't want the default database that is specified, it does not allow me to enter a database name longer than 13 characters. It should allow for names up to 16 characters.
Thanks,
Clifford Bass

Hi Cliff,
Sorry for being a bit dense, but where do you see the dialog. In the ODBC Administrator? What is the front-end that you are using that shows this?
Best regards,

Hi Mike,
It would either be when you do a test connect from the ODBC Administrator; or any program that uses ODBC (i.e. Access, ODBCTest, etc.).
Using ones for visual effect. You see I can only enter thirteen characters in the "Database" line.

OK. I can see this.
This is definitely a bug, but has an easy workaround.
In any ODBC connection setup, remove the 'database' name (i.e. ISLAND) and do a 'Test Connect'. You get the prompt as you've shown below. The database dropdown will not have anything in it.
Put in your server name and press the tab. You can now use the dropdown to connect to any database on the server, including one that is 16 characters long. The DB names are shown correctly in the dropdown even though they don't show fully in the database selection field.
I will log a defect.
Best regards,
Mike

Hi Mike,
That is an interesting work-around. Tested; and it works for me!

Thanks Mike!
Say. For some reason I am no longer getting notifications by e-mail of replies to posts; nor of receipt of private messages. Any idea why? I have not changed my e-mail address and it is still valid. My settings remain as they have been for a long time which specify to notify me in both instances.
Also; no, the notifications are not ending up in my junk folder.
Thanks,
Clifford

Hi Cliff,
This was a known problem with responses. I've been working with IT for a couple of weeks to get it resolved. They had changed to a new mail server; they've now changed it back.
I am now getting notifications (I got one for your response here). Can you please verify that you got a notification of a response to this one?
Best regards,
Mike

I have fixed this issue.
It will be released when SB 12.0 comes out.
I also queued it for the next 11.7 release.
