Hi Unify (Mike),
At the moment I have SQL Base 9.0.1, 11.5.4 and 11.6.0 all running on the same PC for compatibility/performance testing, and I have noticed that SQL Base (and Command Center), unlike Team Developer/SQL Windows and Report Builder, doesn't keep it's registry settings per version. It's only under the different server entries where the link to the specific SQL Base version is made.
This means these settings, including their GUI layouts, are shared for both 11.5.x and 11.6.x versions. The version 9.0.x settings are separate only because they are recorded under Gupta, rather than Unify.
I suppose it's not a usual (or long term) strategy to have multiple different versions of SQL Base running on the same server, and only one version of Command Center (the latest) would be run (if run on the server, at all). However, it makes testing/comparison slightly annoying (even just for screenshots), so I tought it was worth suggesting as a possible change for future versions (11.7, 12.x, etc).
Cheers,

Re: SQL Base registry settings per version
Hi Terry,
The use of the registry was removed with the 8.5 version (except for ODBC, etc.) so that there could be multiple versions on the same PC. The previous versions allowed for only 2 possible versions, with only one active at a time. The objective was for a vendor to be able to install an embedded version of SB with their product and not have to worry about stepping on other versions that were already installed on the server.
Can you be a bit more specific about what problems you are seeing with 11.5 and 11.6, i.e. sizing or making settings in one console replicates in the other? I have both versions installed and would like to repro.
Cheers!
Mike

Re: SQL Base registry settings per version
Hi Mike,
Thanks for the quick reply. It's pretty much the GUI settings for SQL Base and Command Center which are still stored in the Registry (see below).
As you can see, the SQL Windows and Report Builder sections are identified by version (5.2, 6.0), but SQL Base and Command Center are only named, not versioned, meaning the different versions (11.5 and 11.6) share the same GUI settings. Of course, this isn't a major problem, only a slight annoyance when trying to view/compare the versions during testing!
I'm not expecting the strategy would change anytime soon. However, I thought I would ask...
