TD-19251: Long String Oracle

Post by ianrudge » 06 Aug 2013, 16:54

Hi
TD-19251: ORACLE: Insert of empty (NULL) value from Long String causes "0" (0x00) byte to be inserted.
This defect has been fixed in the recent EMP for 6.1 SP3, 6.1 SP3 EMP5496.
Please download and try the same.
Thank you
Kumuthini Ragavan

This seems to be an issue with SQLServer and 6.2

Hi

I just tried using 6.2 and sqlserver and tried to insert string_null into a varchar(max) column and the attached application returned null correctly.

The message box should show NUMBER_Null if it works correctly.

Re-work to show your problem and submit the app so we can re-test again.

Thanks much

See my reply on SalClearField to show the issue....

Its taken a number of trials to find out what is causing the issue. I believe if you try to insert a Long String (MultiLine or Variables etc) into the database without setting it to STRING_Null then it doesn't insert a NULL
