Error 2104 sqlbase 12

Post by renatx » 27 Dec 2021, 13:01

we are faced with the following problem: during operation, SQLBase 12 periodically issues error 2104 - disk read-write error. the raid array was checked, the disks were replaced, and later the database was even moved to another server - the error continues to appear and apparently this is already a problem of the SQL server. Has anyone encountered anything like this? The database is over 50 GB in size, has tables with more than 1,000,000 records.

.
Check the Windows Event Logs. Sometimes this gives surprising unexpected reason for error.
dB and/or Table size is not likely candidate - we run v12 with 120GB dB and 29m rows in table = no issues.
Have you done a dB re-org recently ( i.e. UNLOAD/LOAD ) .
Have you done a CHECK database . Both will highlight any errors .

.
p.s.
If you need syntax for CHECK or UNLOAD, go here for the appropriate SQLBase manual : https://samples.tdcommunity.net/index.p ... ase_Books/
Also, 2104 could be caused by unreliable or slow network .

p.p.s.
Also found that upgrading from 12.1.2 to 12.2.1 fixed a few unexplainable issues. Cant remember if 2104 was one.
But its def. worth doing.
