Hello,
I have problems, trying to connect to ODBC-datasources with the query feature of ReportBuilder 5.2. After giving user name and password I get the error message
"Cannot open database"
With the SQLTalk program, that resides in the same directory with the ReportBuilder and the SQL.INI (team developer's program directory), I can connect to this data sources without any problems. I have the same effect, connecting to SQLServer, Informix or Oracle via ODBC. Here is the router log:
10/2/09 14:28:47 0> SQLRouter LOG Utility - version 2.1.0
10/2/09 14:28:47 0> SQLRouter/ODBC - version 4.0.0
10/2/09 14:28:47 0> autocommit=off
10/2/09 14:28:47 0> odbctrace=off
10/2/09 14:28:47 0> odbctracefile=c:\sqlCentura.log
10/2/09 14:28:47 0> remotedbname=wvar,DSN=WVARODB
10/2/09 14:28:47 0> remotedbname=asel,DSN=AMSSQLODB
10/2/09 14:28:47 0> remotedbname=aoo,DSN=AZMOODB
10/2/09 14:28:47 1> [connect] dbname = SQLODB32 username =
10/2/09 14:28:47 1> [get database names]
10/2/09 14:28:47 1> [disconnect]
You can see the 3 remotedbname's to connect via ODBC to 3 different data sources. In the log entry for connect I cannot find the database name. In this case I tried to connect to the database, referenced by the data source name AZMOODB (for an Oracle database), that resides on my machine, but I have the same problems with the other data sources.
The entries in SQL.INI:
[win32client.dll]
; comdll=sqlora32
; comdll=sqlsyb32
comdll=sqlodb32
;comdll=sqlws32
[odbcrtr]
autocommit=off
odbctrace=off
odbctracefile=c:\sqlCentura.log
;longbuffer=200000
;substitute=length,dbo.length
remotedbname=wvar,DSN=WVARODB
remotedbname=asel,DSN=AMSSQLODB
remotedbname=aoo,DSN=AZMOODB
Thank you for recommendations,
Matthias Schoelzel
TD-8708: ReportBuilder 5.2 and ODBC-Connections
Re: ReportBuilder 5.2 and ODBC-Connections
Hello,
I have made some connection tests with Informix 11 and Oracle 10 through odbc and it works for me.
I am going to see if I can reprocuce your issue.

Re: ReportBuilder 5.2 and ODBC-Connections
Hello,
Try for your Oracle database:
remotedbname=AZMOODB,DSN=AZMOODB
Then run Rportbuilder.Select, under ODBC, AZMOODB.
Does it work ?

Re: ReportBuilder 5.2 and ODBC-Connections
Hello, herve´
thank you, for your answer. This workaround works. So there is an issue, when remotedbname is different to the name of the ODBC datasource. I've seen, that the query wizard not shows the remotedbname, but the name of the ODBC datasource.
