Can TD and Report Builder change the Font enhencement to something like italic part way through a string and then change it back again. I want to display/print a string that has one character in Italics.
If so, how is it done?

No, it cannot. Not for a single string. This was asked some time ago and the only thing I could think of -- in RB -- was to have the string separated into several items in RB, link the items and then for each item it can have its own font, size, bold, etc.

A RichText value can be formatted like this, but not a standard string.

UNfortunately we cannot be certain on the positions or lengths and so putting differently formatted strings side by side wont produce the desired result. This certainly wouldn't help in a cokumn in a Table Window where we would like to have a mix of fonts.
