Problem upgrading a client from SB 8.5 to 9.0.1

Because of the still missing feature of an upgrade installation which
installes the new version and removes all of the old version, I've tried to
manually upgrade a test PC from SqlBase 8.5 PTF4 (only client components
installed) to SqlBase 9.0.1. But I was not able to uninstall SB8.5. The
problem is, that the installation has been done by a domain user which is
not available any more. This because the DC has crashed and been setup up
new with the same domain users, but those users internally do have other
ids. I'm able to log on the test PC with the same user (and his profile),
who has originally done the installation. If I do so, the software Gupta
SqlBase is listed under Control Panel - Software. If I click on deinstall,
the installer starts and asks me, if I want to modify, repair or remove the
installation. If I choose remove or repair, the installer finishes without
doing anything. How can I deinstall SB 8.5???
