Problem with W2003 and SqlBase 7.5.x ?

Hi,

I detected a pb with SqlBase 7.5.0 or 7.5.1 and Windows Server 2003. It
seems that when SP1 is installed, I get the following error :
cannot perform lseek.
It may append during a load process, a select or anything....

The dbs file was right, since I could use it on a XP Pro with 7.5.1

Does anybody have any clue ?

Thanks !

The lseek error means that either the database or a temp file exceeded 2GB.
With later versions of SQLBase that isn't a problem.

Cheers!

So, it's a "limitation" that appears only under W2003, since under W2000 ou
XP, I have database file over 2Gb.
What is the first version over 7.5.x which solves this problem ?

I don't have the details on when that changed (I thought that it was PTF1,
but I'm not sure). According to the compatibility list of OS and SQLBase,
the first SB version that supported 2003 was 8.1.0 (see
http://www.guptaworldwide.com/Products/SQLBasePrevCompatibilityMatrix.aspx),
so I guess you were lucky to get 7.5 running on 2003 at all.

I would suggest moving to a more current version of SQLBase.

Best regards,

Mike
