This morning I received an e-mail from Unify announcing the withdrawal of
TD5.0. For those that haven't received it yet ...
Unify states a commitment to release a viable version "over the next few
months". In particular, they state that this release will:
- Have zero critical defects that can cause crashes or corruption
- 100% compatibility with prior releases
- 100% compliance with features requirements
- Same or better performance as the current release
Seems hopeful ... if you can wait (we've had customers beating us over the
head for Unicode for years, I have no idea how long before they abandon us).
Questions
=======
1. Does 100% compatibility with prior releases mean we will get two table
controls to choose from? (the old one, that will still work with M!Table,
and the new one based on QicsTable)
2. The e-mail also listed some key organisational changes made, amongst
which they state that they have assembled a centralized & focused
development team in Sacramento. Was this where CTD/TD/SQLWindows was
developed before? If not, has the development team relocated? I can't see
a new team getting up to speed in time to deliver inside a year, let alone
the next few months.
