Where are all the release notes ?

We made a big step from TD 1.5.1 to TD3.1 and the porting is nearly done.
We skipped all the versions in between !

Since 1.5.1 there are many changes and features added to TD, but the release
notes
of TD3.1 only describe the changes and additions from the previous (2.1?)
version.

I would like to see what all the changes are after 1.5.1 so i'm looking for
the release notes
of all the TD versions after 1.5.1 up to 3.1.

I can not find them on the Gupta WebSite.

Can they be downloaded ?
And when not, please if someone has all the releasenotes from 1.5.1 up to
3.1, send them to
me by email so i can make a list of interesting features.

Hi,

I'm also in the work of migration from TD1.5.1 to TD3.1?
But I'm not much familiar to TD.
Kindly share your migration ideas which will be helpful for my work.
Thanks in advance

Senthil,

I have the following tips for you which could help.

- Save all 1.5.1 sources as TEXT format
- Open those files in TD3.1 and save them as TEXT to another file
(eg libraryX.apl -> libraryX31.apl)
- Change all includes according those new names in your sources. Be
sure all libraries are treated like above.
- Download a good text search utility like WinGrep
(http://www.wingrep.com/download.html)
It is shareware, you may use it 30 days to evaluate.
- Search all sources for .dll references and determine which
occurences should be changed to the appropriate TD3.1 versions.
(like vt15.dll, it should be vt31.dll etc etc)
- Search all occurences for Centura: and replace them by Gupta:
(Toolbar and MDI client class have another prefix in 3.1)
- Regenerate any ActiveX libraries used in 1.5.1 and save them in
NORMAL format (TEXT format offers bugs in events, the ActiveX
libraries must be in NORMAL format to work properly)
- Do not use the Gupta tooltip DLL (tti31.dll for displaying
tooltips). This is very buggy and makes TD3.1 build applications
unstable. Use the SalExtension tooltip implementation instead or build
your own WinAPI equivalent.
- When using Dynalibs in your apps beware of the following :
1) Do not use objects instantiated as class variables in classes which
are shared. So when dynalib1 has a class cfcCustomer and has an object
as class variable, this classname must not be used in other dynalibs.
Redesign this class to having no class variable objects at all or
rename the class so it differs in all dynalibs. It will result in
crashes when your application closes.
2) Be sure all dynalibs have the same entries in the formats section
and those entries are in the same order. Investigate all formats and
input masks used in all dynalibs and make 1 list for all. When not,
your apps will crash when a datafield is entered which has input masks
not present in other dynalibs.
- Datafields which are not editable are indeed selectable in 3.1 and
is part of the TAB stops. To make the fields not selectable, disable
them by SalDisableWindow on creation.
- We have seen too many bugs on the ObjectCompiler (OC) in 3.1. It is
impossible for us to port our sources which are used in 1.5.1 to be
used in the TD 3.1 ObjectCompiler. Maybe it works for you, but there
are issues which could lead to severe errors. We do not use the OC,
but it will be open source. Then we can fix the issues and use the OC
again.

When we are finished porting our apps from 1.5.1 (ptf6) to 3.1 (ptf3)
i will make a complete list of issues we have found, the workarounds
and i will post it here in the forums as a seperate thread for use to
the community.
