Hi Sam,
both types (*.app and *.apt) are used to save the source code of CTD
into a file. The *.app-files contain precompiled source code. These
files cann only read by the CTD itself.
The *.apt-files contain the source code in form of text data. The file
format is often used to manipulate the source code by other programs or
source code generators.
We use *.apt-files to store our source code. It is often easier to
transfer the code from one machine to another. Sometimes we found that
CTD cannot read an *.app-file, whence an *.apt-file was always
readable. An another reason for us is: An *.apt-file can be packed with
ZIP and has only 10% size of the original source file. It saves place
in our source code archives.
Hope, I could help you.
With best regards from Eisenach, Germany
