Unify Team Developer 5.1 and SQLWIN.HLP

Post by wapi001 (Werner) » 18 Oct 2007, 08:24

When I press F1 key in SqlWindows 5.1 I for context help get a messagebox:

File SQLWIN.HLP could not be found. :?:

After that the html help is opening, but it does not show the help for the word I have marked in my outline.

I am using the trial version 5.1.0 build 5917

BTW: Is it possible to download patches in the trial version also?

best regards
Werner

Hi Werner,

Yes the HELP engine as been replaced in TD 5.1 and the reason was to address the issue of VISTA no longer supporting the OLD WINHLP32 engine( though this can be workaround in VISTA). So in effect there is no longer SQLWIN.HLP provided in TD 5.1 but HTML file instead. This system currently does not support context sensitive help :-( and as you point out, F1 in the context, still try to look at for SQLWIN.HPL. If you would have one SQLWIN.HPL (from previous TD version) along in your your system path both HELP would open... We are aware of those 2 issues and look at currently at it.

Originally Trial version could not be patched (applying PTF to it), I would believe this rule did not change, unless someone state otherwise...

Thanks
Jean-Marc

Due to the negative response w.r.t the webhelp Unify is going to revert back to winhelp.

Reasons:

1. It's fast
2. It allows context sensitive help (i.e. highlight an api, click F1 and there is the api info.)
3. That's what TD developer's are familiar with.
4. With respect to it not working on Vista we are going to add a release note outlining how to make it work. Basically winhelp32 is no longer installed with vista so you just need to go to Microsoft website and download it.
