Accessing Images stored on a Sony OSL 2500 Jukebox

Hello Everyone,

I am in serious need of help accessing images stored on optical
platters in a Sony OSL 2500 jukebox. The system is set up as follows.
The juke box is hooked up to a HP-NET SERVER LC3 running NT 4.0 The
jukebox is attached via SCSI to the server. This is all part of an old
MI3MS system version 5.0. We have one workstation running Windows 95,
used only to access these images, that has the MI3MS software on it. I
can access the images on the platters using this machine (I think, or
am I accessing the cache?). I can not see the juke box platters as
drives on the server. Should I be able to or can I set it up this way?
How can I acces the images stored on these drives and copy them to a
newer more efficient type of storage with out accessing them 1 by 1
from the workstation?

Any help or input would be graetly appreciated!!

Thanks,

RB

Joey

It has been my experience that someone will have to write a conversion
program to access the images and pull them and maybe the ID into your
current database. They will have to be familiar with your current
database and the one you're transferring to which I will assume might be
SQL ? I don't believe it will be just as simple as accessing the images
with your current application and dragging them over.

Thanks for the direction, what type of interface, a .NET app for
example that would interface SQLBase and MS SQL? If this is the case
we are back at square one, because the SQLBase databse is version 5 and
we can not find the ODBC driver for it anywhere. Can you tell me a
little more on how I need to do this?

Thanks

RB,

I'm not an expert on this, but I have had it done before. For example,
using .NET or VB the database must be accessed by the script written.
You would read the proper field in a sequential manner pulling the
images across and writing them with whatever prefix to your local
machine or drive. When I said above that the .NET/VB must access the
database, these are parts of those languages that are already embedded
there. If you need a sample go to http://www.planet-source-code.com/
and do a search for this type of conversion program for the source code.
Hope this helps somewhat.
