Anyone out there who managed to connect to ORACLE XE

Post by StefanH » 08 Oct 2010, 13:20

Help needed!

I have a Oracle XE and TD2005.1

I have downloaded and installed Oracle Client XE

I can connect via SQL*Plus

SQLWin keeps telling me 401: can not oopen database.

What to do?

Regedit?
sql.ini
tnsnames.ora?
something else?

Best regards
Stefan

Well, I haven't tried connecting to O. XE, but generally SQL.INI needs updating:

[win32client.dll]
; uncomment - remove the semi-colon
comdll=sqlora32
...
; this entry below needs to be list in the [win32client.dll] list
comdll=sqlws32

...

[oragtwy]
; add...
remotedbname=<DB name>,@tns:<DB name>

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, TD ships with ccod.PDF, so read the Oracle section there.
